SharePoint Migration
 
Expert Global has helped its major customers in migrating their existing SharePoint 2003 (SPS2003) based portal sites and applications developed on the top of those to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 technologies.
 
Based on Database Size, Customization (Un-Ghosting) we decide on one of following approaches:
  • In Place Upgrade
  • Gradual Upgrade
  • Content DB Upgrade
Sharepoint Migration
After we run the Pre-Scan tool, we would know the number of unghosted pages. We would also have knowledge of custom web part, and any other application customization done on existing SharePoint portal. We would also check the size of the database that needs to be migrated to MOSS2007. With this inventory, Expert Global Migration team will carry out the estimates.
  • In case there is little or no customization and the database size is less than 30 GB, we would go with gradual upgrade and this activity can be done within few weeks.
  • If the customization is heavy, many web parts are critical and need to be re-written or organized, the activities would require lot more time. For a site that has 500 pages and reasonable customization, as per our experience, it would take 10 to 12 weeks to complete the migration. However, this could vary based on the extent of customization and migration requirements.
